So we looked at steps 1 and 2 in taking notes to a lecture. We will quickly review, point out some practical points and practice.

Some practical points:
I pay attention to each of these and do them but I only write a few of them on my paper. So what do I write on my paper practically speaking?
INTRODUCTION
Title, vocabulary, summary/subpoints, not hook (definition, review or assignment)
Let’s do two more samples:
Please take notes as I have suggested but remember to follow steps 1 and 2.
Sample 2: NOTE: Please remember that some professors or speakers don’t give an introduction but go right to their thesis statement as with this speech, https://www.ted.com/talks/riccardo_sabatini_how_to_read_the_genome_and_build_a_human_being
At other times, the speaker won’t give a signal word to let us easily know that we have the thesis statement. It is more listening for the title or at least synonyms of that title. Here is an example of that - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiKf0E7iqno and another https://www.ted.com/talks/oded_shoseyov_how_we_re_harnessing_nature_s_hidden_superpowers/transcript?language=en
