                              TOEFL

The TOEFL test has 4 sections: reading, listening, speaking and writing.  For students who don't know anything about the TOEFL or these sections, you should read this handout.

Vocabulary for TOEFL

The test includes vocabulary from a variety of fields so it is helpful to learn vocabulary to help you with the reading and listening sections of the test especially.

Writing Section

There are two writing sections for the TOEFL:

1)the integrated writing section and 2) the independent writing section.

Listening Section

In the listening section of the TOEFL, there are two types of listening, conversational listening and listening to a lecture.  We'll look at each section and some steps and strategies you can use.  Please note that listening is very important on the TOEFL because it is in 3 of the 4 TOEFL skill sections: the listening,writing and speaking.

Handout 1. This link is for vocabulary for common problems on a college campus as most of the listening passages are on problems.  Some are on a topic and students' opinions about the topc but most are on problems so let's look at that vocabulary.
